Anything's possible together. It's Man Made — apps, tools, drawings and businesses by Berk Frei.

I'm Berk. I build websites, apps, and tools with you. Open Studio gives us a shared workspace: your real code, an AI to keep things moving, and me for the parts that get hard.

Rock Garden.

A climbing app.
A family thread.

I built Rock Garden to help climbers explore routes in 3D. When Climbing featured the project, it brought the story full circle: my uncle had appeared in the same magazine decades earlier.

This is the app, the article, and why it means something to me.

For Sundance Mountain Resort, we turned terrain into a place you can explore. Follow a ski run, look around a lift, get a feel for the mountain before you arrive.

Twinbly.

I walked around a car.
Now you can.

That little phone video? It becomes a place you can move through. I built Twinbly to turn photos and videos into shareable 3D experiences.

Here’s a car show, through a different lens. The original footage sits right beside the capture it became.

What’s it worth
without a name?

ZEROSENSE started with an idea I brought to my friends Brock and Trevor during our work on HIDE, a fashion project with a critical eye on society. I led its creation, with them alongside me.

Established and emerging artists appeared anonymously through the Monocle AR viewer. Collectors chose what moved them, then competed in a round-by-round “Bid Battle.”

We saw it as a way to introduce Rock Garden’s bigger idea: a map of the world built and owned by its contributors. We explored NFTs as a way to fund that work and reward people for capturing places.

Legend.Guide carries that idea forward with conventional payments: contributors retain rights in their captures, and the model shares royalties when others use them in guides and stories.

DGHBOYA coaching app with a world of its own.ExploreClose

DGHBOY.

An app.
A world around it.

I built DGHBOY, a men’s coaching and self-improvement app, and the interactive Spline experience that introduced it. Journaling, coaching, and progress tracking, presented inside a moving 3D world.

This was hands-on work: the app, the scenes, the interactions. Built before today’s AI tools made that process easier.

The Face, Spring/Summer 2020, via SHOWstudio. My contribution was the underlying character asset, with the 3D team; the editorial artwork came after.

A digital double.
A life of its own.

Working with a small 3D team, I helped turn Grimes’s scan into a morphable Genesis character. We delivered the asset to Grimes and Mac Boucher: a digital self they could reshape, age, and take into their own creative world.

WarNymph went on to cover The Face in Balenciaga. SHOWstudio explored how the avatar let Grimes keep making images and promoting her music during pregnancy, without being physically present for a shoot.

In 2021, Grimes and Mac’s WarNymph NFT collection generated around $6 million in sales, as reported by The Verge. The character work we delivered was an early part of that wider creative story.

From a screen
to your shelf.

I founded Sandboxr to let people shape a digital character and turn it into a physical 3D print. It brought character art, software, and manufacturing into one experience.

We went on to bring that experience to Infinity Blade and other entertainment properties, with collaborations spanning Riot, Nintendo, and Microsoft. Players could customize a character, then have their version printed and delivered.
