Hi.

I'm Berk.

Here's how I got here.

Ch. 01 ~2008

▌ It started here

Artist.

I started by making things with my hands. Painting, sculpture, the messy analog stuff. The first thing I ever shipped wasn't software.

2010s Ch. 02

▌ A startup happened

Startup.

I joined a tech company. I built the software, marketed it, sold it. I learned that shipping is a skill on its own.

Ch. 03 2018+

▌ Back to the keyboard

Code.

I went back to engineering. Picked up the right tools, the right languages, the right habits. Became a good developer — back when that title still meant something.

Ch. 04 · 2024

▌ Then the math changed

AI

The tools got smart enough that anyone with taste could ship. I got obsessed. Now I'm an agentic coder. Whatever that means in six months.

Today Ch. 05

▌ Which brings us here

Studio.

Apps. Client work. Weird experiments. All under one roof, all hand-shipped. Here's some of it.

§A

Endorsements

A few people who would absolutely vouch for me, if they were alive.

Generated for testing purposes, but I'm keeping them. The bar for testimonial writing was higher in the 19th century.

TR
It is not the critic who counts. Credit belongs to the developer who is actually in the arena, whose IDE is marred by error logs, who errs and falls short again and again — but who, at the worst, fails while daring greatly. Berk strives valiantly. The site shipped.
Theodore Roosevelt 26th U.S. President · 1858–1919
MG
Be the developer you wish to see in the world. I have seen Berk. I am content.
Mahatma Gandhi Lawyer · pacifist · 1869–1948
MC
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be debugged. Berk debugs. Of course one must also pair-program with him, occasionally, when the bug is unusually radioactive.
Marie Curie Physicist · two-time Nobel laureate · 1867–1934

No historical figures were inconvenienced in the making of this page.

§01

Apps

Tools I built to scratch my own itches.

If something I want doesn't exist or feels broken, I tend to build my own. Sometimes those make it out into the world.

▌ App #001 · in early access

First Cut

A focused video editor I'm using on my own footage. The standout feature so far: an AI cast — a roster of characters you can drop into your project who can read lines, react, narrate, take notes. Historical figures included. [ Berk: rewrite this with the real pitch when you have it. ]

§03

Lab

Sketches, splats, weird stuff.

Where I keep the half-finished and the just-finished — what I work on between client projects. Not for sale, not for hire, just for fun. itsmanmade.art redirects here.

Studio

You drive. I supervise. The result: a custom site, your code, a fraction of the cost.

A custom website used to mean three months and twenty grand. AI changed the math. You can now do most of it yourself, in your browser, in real time. I'm there for the parts where you'd otherwise be stuck — deploys, payments, weird bugs at 11pm — and to keep the quality bar where it should be. Custom code, real ownership, real domain. You take it home whenever.

Get in touch

If we're a fit, let's talk.

First call is 20 minutes, free, low-pressure. Tell me what you want to build. If I can help I'll say so. If I can't I'll point you at someone who can.
